Final PhD seminar of scholar to be held tomorrow

JAMSHORO: The final PhD seminar of scholar Fatima Gill of Political Science Department will be held tomorrow (August 13) in video conference room of the office of Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Sindh Jamshoro at about 11.00 a.m.

The seminar will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani. In the seminar the scholar will present her thesis on the topic “human rights in Pakistan with special focus on bonded labour” whereas her supervisor Prof. Gul Muhammad Phul & co-supervisor Prof. Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Pathan will also be present on the occasion.

In the end, scholar Fatima Gill will defend her thesis during questions & answers session. The Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Pathan has invited all the deans of various faculties, academic heads, faculty members and research scholars to attend the seminar.

2nd PhD seminar of Genetic Engineering Scholar to be held on July 14

JAMSHORO: The 2nd PhD seminar of scholar Nadir Ali Rind of Genetic Engineering Department will be held on July 14, 2014 in video conference room of the office of Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Sindh Jamshoro at about 10.30 a.m. The Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi would preside over the seminar while Dr. Muhammad Umer Dahot and Dr. Muhammad Rafique, the supervisor & co-supervisor (respectively) of the scholar will be present on the occasion. The scholar will read his research thesis on the topic “study of genetic variability and production of limonoids through in vitro culture of chinaberry (Melia Azedarch. L)”. He will defend his thesis during questions & answers session.

Scholar recommended for PhD degree in public administration

JAMSHORO: Scholar Khalid Noor Panhwar has been recommended for the award of PhD in Public Administration after successful public defense of his research in a ceremony held at the Video Conference Room, University of Sindh Jamashoro.

Vice Chancellor of Sindh University, Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani chaired the ceremony while Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi, Dr. Parvaiz Pathan and others were in attendance.

The topic of his research was ‘human resource development: a case study of Thatta & Badin districts.’

A news release issued by the spokesperson of University of Sindh said the scholar had carried out study in the remote areas of the province Thatta & Badin, wherein he had found that the indigenous cultural values promoted gender inequalities in Sindhi society in terms of education which resulted low attendance of female students in the schools.

While presenting his thesis, he said the policy maker could decide to bring changes in the education by making the effective transmission, acquisition, creation and adaptation of information, knowledge, skills and values by creating a comprehensive network of vocational and educational institutes in order to boost the literacy rate.

The scholar said the accessibility to the free education up to matriculation, free provision of textbooks, grant of scholarships and incentives to the students as well as teachers in both the districts must be ensured.

He said the human resources development which might result in increase in productivity and improved skills must be promoted.

Khalid Noor further said that during his research, he found that both the districts had the bleak condition pertaining to the existence of the vocational education.

“There is a sever gender disparity as well in Thatta & Badin districts; Most of the union councils in the two districts are devoid of proper implementation of schools and colleges and have the lowest qualifications”, he said.

The scholar said that there was absolute absence of primary, secondary, higher and vocational institutes at certain union councils adding that such mass illiteracy and void in terms of technical education would lead to abject poverty and dejection.

The scholar recommended that there was acute need for the institutions of all levels of education, general as well as vocational in these districts adding that his research presented the clear gender biased in the researched districts of the province.

Prof. Dr. Hakim Ali Kanasro was the supervisor of the scholar and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Bux Burdi of the Department of Public Administration was his cosupervisor while Prof. Dr. Abu Zar Wajidi, ex. Vice chancellor of Karachi University served as the scholar’s external examiner.

In the ceremony his thesis was appreciated with the recommendations to award the scholar with PhD degree.

Scholar defends her M. Phil thesis successfully

JAMSHORO: A scholar of the Department of Zoology, University of Sindh Jamshoro, successfully defended her M. Phil thesis in a seminar held here in the video conference room of the varsity. Nosheen Jehajo completed her research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nasreen Memon.

In her final M. Phil seminar, she presented her thesis on the topic “taxonomy & ecology of different mosquitos’ species of subfamily anophelinae in main malaria affected area of Sindh”.

The scholar said: mosquitos are among the most important group of flying insects which affect the health of human beings and domestic animals worldwide.

She told that malaria was one of the oldest and deadliest infectious diseases in human caused by protozoan parasites of the genus plasmodium and this disease was transmitted by female anopheles mosquitoes.

Scolar Nosheen further said that she had conducted surveys in six districts of Sindh including Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Alahyar where malaria prevalent adding that she observed the occurrence of malaria vector mosquito species; anopheles, culicifacies and anopheles stephensi during the survey.

The Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi presided over the seminar.

On the other hand, another 1st M. Phil seminar of zoology scholar Javed Ali Khero also held in the video conference room in which the scholar presented his research thesis on the topic “prevalence of pets in rice fileds of district Kamber-Shahdadkot, Sindh”. He also defended his thesis during question-answer section.

According to dean, faculty of natural sciences, the 1st PhD seminar of scholar Sardar Hussain Memon of Department of Botany will be held today (June 27) wherein he will deliver his lecture on the research topic “in-vitrocallus induction, antoxidant, antimicrobial, properties & some phytochemical composition of some indigenous medicinal plants of solanaceae”.

M.S, M. Phil seminars at SU to be held on June 16

JAMSHORO: The final M.S seminar of scholar Rafiozaman Brohi of chemical sciences department will be held on June 16, 2014 in video conference room of the office of Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Sindh Jamshoro at about 10.00 a.m. The scholar will deliver his lecture on his research topic “gas chromatography determination of adenine, guanine, cytosine & thymine in DNA & RNA from Humand bio fluids”.

On the other hand, the 1st M. Phil seminar of the same department chemical sciences scholar Nazim Parvaiz on the topic “synthesis, characterization of aryl hydrazide derivatives & study of their complexing ability for the determination of metal ions” will be organized at the same place on June 16.

The Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi would preside over the seminar while both the scholars will read their research thesis and defend their research during question-answer session.

M.Phil, PhD seminars to be held on April 28, 29

JAMSHORO: The 2nd M.Phil seminar of scholar Kashif Ali Jandan of microbiology department will be held on April 28, 2014 in video conference room of the office of Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Sindh Jamshoro at about 10.30 a.m. The scholar will deliver his lecture on his research topic “ethanol production of by-yeast from chuhara (dates) with and without sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate (Runkaat)”.

On the other hand, the 1st PhD seminar of zoology scholar Muhammad Ismael Memon on the topic “impact of the ileriosis in naturally infected cattle and buffaloes” will be organized at the same place on April 29, 2014.

The Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi would preside over the seminar while both the scholars will read their research thesis and defend their research during question-answer session.

Research activities in full swing at SU as 4 more M. Phil/ PhD seminars to be held during existing week

JAMSHORO: The research activities are well under way at University of Sindh (SU) Jamshoro as the seminars of M.Phil/ PhD are taking place virtually every day. Besides, four more M.Phil/PhD seminars have been announced to organize during prevailing week. The scholars of various department will read their research papers and defend them according.

According to details, the 1st PhD seminar of scholar Miho Khan Bhatti of public administration department will be held on April 25, 2014 in Nelson Mandela hall of the department of International Relations University of Sindh (SU) Jamshoro.

The Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Abida Taherani would preside over the seminar while Dr. Naimatullah Shah and Dr. Zareen Abbasi, the supervisor & co-supervisor (respectively) of the scholar will be present on the occasion. The scholar will read his research thesis on the topic “effects of training and development of employee performance of Public Sector Organization of Balochistan”. He will defend his thesis during questions & answers session.

In another statement Dr. Abida Taherani informed that the 1st M.Phil seminar of economics scholar Ali Gul Khushk will be organized on April 23, 2014. The scholar will read his research paper on the topic “an evaluation and analysis of success of State Bank’s Foreign Exchange Intervention Policies in Pakistan”.

On the other hand, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi informed that the final M.Phil seminar of fresh water biology & fisheries scholar Muhammad Hanif Lund will be held on April 23 on the topic “biodiversity of catfish of lower Indus river district Thatta, Sindh, Pakisan” in video conference room of the office of Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Sindh Jamshoro at about 10.30 a.m.

Prof. Dr. Wazir Ali Baloch would also be present who is supervisor of the scholar. Similarly, another final M.S seminar of information & communication technology scholar Gulsher Laghari will be organized on April 24, 2014 on the topic “policy based context-aware architectural adaptation in pervasive computing” in N.A. Naqvi library & Auditorium, NCEAC at SU. Dr. Lachhman Das Dhomeja and Dr. Yasir Arfat Malkani, the supervisor & co-supervisor (respectively) will also attend he seminar.

According to Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi, Dr. Muhammad Yar Khuhawar and Dr. Amber Solangi are the supervisor & co-supervisor of the scholar Muhammad Yahya Gilal respectively. The scholar will speak about his research topic “Voltametric determination of pharmaceutical preparations containing Guanidino functional grouping”.   In the last he will reply to the queries of participants.

Scholar defends PhD thesis

JAMSHORO – The University of Sindh (SU) scholar Naheed Memon of the Department of Pharmaceutics successfully defended her PhD thesis here on Tuesday. The topic of her thesis was “Drug-Drug Interactions in Prescriptions of Hypertensive Patients from Out-Patient-Departments of Selected Hospitals of Hyderabad City”. Naheed Memon had completed his course work at Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Sindh under the supervision of Prof Dr Abdullah Dayo, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy of the varsity and organized her final PhD seminar in Senate Hall of Administrative Building wherein acting Dean Graduate Studies Dr Abdul Sattar Almani participated as chief guest. photo

The scholar Naheed Memon put light on her topic in detail, Terming the drug-drug interactions an important issue, she said that It was realized that many of them could be explained by change in enzymes involved in metabolism that were present in the liver and other outside liver. However she said many of the pharmacokinetic interactions between drugs were due to cytochrome P450 enzymes which might be interrupted by administration of other drugs. “Hypertension (HTN) is one of the most common cardiovascular disease which can be defined as consistently elevated blood pressure (arterial) or average systolic blood pressure 140 mm Hg, or diastolic blood pressure 90 mm Hg”. The scholar maintained. She spoke about her thesis recalling that during her study 3000 out-door HTN patients were examined from three different hospital of Hyderabad and were evaluated individually for drug interactions. In the last, Naheed Memon successfully defended her PhD thesis during questions and answers section. Later, her seminar was declared successful and sent to the board of advanced studies and research (BASR) which will approve or disapprove it after passing it on from plagiarism process. On the other hand, two M. Phil seminars of scholar Nadir Ali Shah and Ms. Aiman will be held on March 26 in video conference room adjacent to the office of dean faculty of natural sciences, University of Sindh Jamshoro.
